How do I get yahoo to send my password to my alternate email address and not create a new password for me?

You can't. Their password setup doesn't let them actually know your password. It gets encrypted in a way that can't be decrypted, so when you put in your password, it gets encrypted the same way and compared. They don't actually have your password, so it can't get stolen. That's why they have to set a new password.
