Want to be sneaky? Get a g-mail account too, and list yours as the "secondary email". Keep the password and having the "secondary email" set should enable you to retreive a password if it's changed. You can also- and this is safe, not sneaky- set up the account to forward mail to another email account as well. Then you can keep track of what is coming into the box.

Peace out, good luck!
Reply:WANT TO HAVE PEACE IN LIFE STOP THIS AND WHEN SHE GROWS UP SHE WILL DO FOR HERSELF U CAN'T KEEP AN EYE ON SPAM NOW IN U'R BUSY SCHEDULE
Reply:Yes give her Yahoo or aol. Aol has a email thing just 4 kids 6-12. thier are chat rooms but u can block all these things. My mom did it when i was 10 now im 15. Just make sure u talk 2 her about predators and everything! Have a good 1
Reply:It is not possible to open a e-mail account for a 10 year old, so you have to give a wrong dob. No server is completely safe, however gmail may somewhat solve the problem. But one catch about gmail is that someone having a gmail account must invite you to join.
Reply:i set my daughter up one on go.com - through disney when she was about 5. there are many different ones out there. It will be hard to keep the spam away. There is nothing that is 100%. Untill this past year when my daughter turned 12, I would check her email before letting her in just to be sure there was nothing in it. She knows even now I will check her account just to be on the safe side. When I set this account up, I used her nickname.

Be a parent, use your judgement.
Reply:Its difficult to keep Spams away. Yes Gmail is best to deal with spam, but ofcourse they store spam mail in folder called Spam which is easily accessible, and curious kids enjoy reading spams too :)

Look for facility where you can set some filters to delete emails with certain keywords and keep peeping in that mailbox often.

its better to have her use mailbox under your observation.
Reply:Yahoo and AOL are good. AOL has accounts that you can create specifically for children and anything too graphic will automatically be filtered out for their safety. As for a name,I would not pick anything too common but something cute and unique.
Reply:Please don't do that. She is far too young and doesn't need it. Besides, she should be introducing herself to good books!
Reply:You only really get porn e-mails and stuff if your going to porn sites. If she dosn't give out her e-mail, except to friends then you shouldn't have to worry about it. It also depends on what she does online. Is she a member of a lot of boards or does she just play games and stuff? It's basicly a person by person decision on what to give her.
Reply:I don't think it is necessary for her. Try to give her some thing which will be helpful in her studies.
Reply:get yahoo. it is safe and has good protection.
Reply:Well tell her the ground rules on the computer! I would have to know the password and all. If I were you I would check it first before she gets on to check. So that way if she gets any spam you can delete it before she sees.
