To delete your email account you have to delete the Yahoo ID that goes along with it. That means you lose anything that goes along with that ID like Answers, 360 page, anything you have saved on Yahoo.
If you just want your email account deactivated just dont visit it for 4 months and Yahoo will deactivate it and everything in it will be deleted but you can still keep your ID.
